Usage Rights

Last updated: Jul 17, 2026

PhotoCAD produces two types of vector files: conversion outputs (files you generate from your own photos) and gallery downloads (pre-made files available on the site). Each has different usage rights.

Conversion outputs

Files you generate using the PhotoCAD conversion tool (from your own uploaded photos) are yours — on every plan, including free, Pay-As-You-Go, and the API. We claim no rights in your outputs and place no restrictions on how you use them*: personal projects, commercial products, client deliverables — your call. We also assign to you any rights we may hold in them.

* One rule about the service, not your files: you may not use PhotoCAD to mass-generate a library of files for redistribution or resale as digital products (see our Terms of Service).

Gallery downloads

All vector files in the PhotoCAD gallery are 100% free for personal and commercial use. No attribution is required. You may:

  • Download, modify, and use gallery files in any personal or commercial project
  • Sell unlimited physical products made from the drawings (wall art, signs, jewelry, apparel, gifts, etc.)
  • Use the files with any machine or software (laser cutters, CNC routers, plasma cutters, vinyl cutters, Cricut, Silhouette, etc.)

The only restriction is:

  • You may not resell, share, or redistribute the digital files themselves. For example, you cannot upload a PhotoCAD DXF to your own Etsy shop as a digital download, bundle our files into a collection for resale, or host our files on another website. The files are for making things, not for reselling as digital products.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns the drawings I create?

You do — on every plan, including free, Pay-As-You-Go, and the API. PhotoCAD claims no rights in your conversions, places no restrictions on how you use them, and assigns to you any rights it may hold in them. When you spend a credit, you are paying to download a file — never to buy back rights that were always yours.

Can I sell products made from my conversions?

Yes. Sell physical products, deliver client work, use them in commercial projects — all included on every plan, with no attribution required.

Can I resell or share the digital files themselves?

Your conversions: yes — they are your files. Gallery downloads: no — those are free to use and make things with, but may not be redistributed or resold as digital files. One service rule applies to everyone: you may not use PhotoCAD to mass-generate a file library for resale as digital products.

Are gallery files really free for commercial use?

Yes — 100% free for personal and commercial use, no attribution, and you can sell unlimited physical products made from them. The only restriction is redistributing the digital files themselves.
